Good Samaritan Church of God & The School of Good Samaritan

My name is Marguerite Etienne Jerome, and I am the founder of the Good Samaritan Church of God and the School of Good Samaritan. Inspired by my love for God, I returned to Haiti, the place of my birth, after 17 years. Upon arriving in Labrousse, I was overwhelmed with sadness upon witnessing the dire conditions in which the children and their parents lived - poverty and ignorance engulfed their lives. These parents struggled to provide basic necessities for their children, and the arid land yielded no food, only dry dust.

However, during one of my visits in 1997, I discovered a disheartening truth - 98% of the children in this community were unable to read or even grasp the fundamentals of education, including the alphabet. Their parents simply could not afford to send them to school. Motivated by this revelation, I took it upon myself to open a small school. Initially, it began with 13 children, but it has since grown substantially.

While faced with the challenge of paying the salary of the hired teacher, I relied on the grace of God and the generosity of my church family. With the limited funds at my disposal, I managed to provide monthly payments to the teachers. Ms. Leone Moreau serves as the Principal, and Jean Alix Etienne takes on the role of director. Though I may be a few months behind in payments, my determination remains unwavering.

In that same year, I embarked on a mission to bring hope to these suffering souls by sharing the message of Jesus and the transformative power He could bring to their lives. Many people embraced this message, and thus, I established a small church called the Church of God of Good Samaritan, led by a Pastor. Every seven months, I made a visit to Labrousse, bringing with me supplies such as food, clothing, and whatever monetary assistance I could afford.

My vision extends beyond the present circumstances. I aspire to establish a professional school that equips these children with practical skills, such as sewing, electronics, furniture making, and mechanics, enabling them to secure a better future for themselves and their families.

My ultimate goal is to fulfill the burden that God has placed upon my heart - to uplift the impoverished lives, both spiritually and materially, of those in Labrousse. I strive to provide them with a brighter future, not only for their own sake but also for the benefit of their children and families. Moreover, I aim to inspire them to extend a helping hand to others in need, just as I have done.

I know there are a lot of good hearted individuals who will love to contribute and help. No matter what you are able to give, it will go directly for this matter. I will always keep you posted on all activities. I am currently working with proof of pictures, videos and statements on every expenses that remain.
